Emancipation Day Celebration

July 26 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Why We Celebrate Emancipation Day

Emancipation Day commemorates the abolition of slavery throughout the British Empire on August 1, 1834. It is a day to honour the resilience, achievements, and contributions of Black communities while reflecting on our shared history and continuing the work toward equity and justice.

About the Event

Join the London Black Heritage Council, Fanshawe Pioneer Village and our community partners for a day of celebration, education, and connection as we commemorate Emancipation Day.

Enjoy a full day of live entertainment, cultural performances, guest speakers, local vendors, community organizations, food, and the annual parade while learning about the history and significance of Emancipation Day in Canada.

Whether you’re attending with family, friends, or on your own, there’s something for everyone.
