Kay Livingstone Scholarship

The Congress of Black Women of Canada – London Chapter is pleased to offer the Kay Livingstone Scholarship to graduating Black students pursuing post-secondary education.

Named in honour of Kay Livingstone, a London-born advocate for social justice and educational opportunity, this scholarship recognizes students who have demonstrated academic achievement, community involvement, and leadership.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Be a 2026 graduate of the Ontario Secondary School system
  • Be accepted into the first year of study at a Canadian post-secondary institution
  • Demonstrate strong academic achievement and volunteer/community involvement
  • Reside in London, Middlesex County, or the surrounding area

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit:

  • A completed scholarship application form
  • A one-page typed essay explaining why they should be selected
  • Two letters of recommendation (one from their school and one from an extracurricular/community organization)
  • An original transcript of grades
  • Proof of acceptance to a recognized Canadian College or university

Gwen Jenkins Adult Scholarship

The Congress of Black Women of Canada – London Chapter is proud to offer the Gwen Jenkins Adult Scholarship to support Black adult learners pursuing or continuing post-secondary education.

This scholarship recognizes mature students who have demonstrated commitment to their education, community involvement, and personal growth while working toward their academic and career goals.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must:

  • Identify as Black
  • Be a mature student pursuing or continuing post-secondary education
  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident residing in London, Middlesex County, or the surrounding area
  • Be enrolled in a diploma or certificate program at an accredited Canadian university, college, or vocational/technical institution
  • Not have previously received a Congress Scholarship

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit:

  • A completed scholarship application form
  • An essay describing why they are a worthy recipient, including community involvement, volunteer activities, academic achievements, accomplishments, and future goals
  • Two letters of reference
  • Proof of registration in a recognized university, college, or vocational/technical institution
